An Act to make provision regarding the return to the Bamangwato Tribal Territory of certain members of the Bamangwato Tribe who left the Bamangwato Tribal Territory in or after the month of July, 1949, following upon dissensions which had arisen in the Bamangwato Tribe, and regarding the resumption by such persons of their rights and obligations as members of the Bamangwato Tribe.

This Act may be cited as the Bamangwato Tribal Membership Act.
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—
“Bamangwato Tribal Territory” means the Bamangwato Tribal Territory as defined in section 2 of the Tribal Territories Act (Cap. 32:03).
The persons to whom this Act relates are all persons who left the Bamangwato Tribal Territory in or after the month of July, 1949, and who immediately before leaving the Tribal Territory were members of the Bamangwato Tribe.
(1) It is hereby declared that all persons to whom this Act relates and who returned before 11th day of June, 1952, shall be regarded for all purposes as having lawfully so returned, and shall be deemed to have been restored to full membership of the Bamangwato Tribe.
(2) It is further declared that all persons to whom this Act relates and who had not returned before 11th day of June, 1952, may be permitted to return on such conditions as may be prescribed by the tribal authority of the Bamangwato Tribe and upon being readmitted by the tribal authority of the Bamangwato Tribe shall be deemed to have been restored to full membership of the Bamangwato Tribe.
Nothing contained in this Act shall affect the exercise of any power conferred by the Public Safety Act (Cap. 22:03) or any instruction given or order made or which may hereafter be given or made thereunder.
