1.    Citation

    This Order may be cited as the Tsetse Fly Control Order.

2.    Directions

    All persons travelling on the following roads shall, if so required by an administrative officer, pass through the de-flying chambers specified below together with their vehicles, donkeys, horses or other draught animals:

    Sankuyu to Maun Road

De-flying chamber north of Shorobe.

    Sehitwa to Shakawe Road

De-flying chamber south and north of Tsau, south and north of Nokaneng and Gomare.

    Xai-Xai to Tsau Road

De-flying chamber north of Tsau.

    Xangwa to Nokaneng Road

De-flying chamber north of Nokaneng.

    Kachikau to Kasane Road

De-flying chamber at Kachikau and Ngoma.

3.    Cattle race

    All cattle other than draught animals if so required by an administrative officer shall pass through the cattle races adjacent to the de-flying chambers specified in paragraph 2.

4.    Pickets

    All persons on the road specified in paragraph 2 shall, if so required by an administrative officer pass through such temporary pickets as may from time to time be erected for the purposes of tsetse fly control.

1.    Citation

    These Regulations may be cited as the Tsetse Fly Control Regulations.

2.    Interpretation

    In these Regulations—

    “authorised officer” means—

    (a)    an administrative officer;

    (b)    any member of the Botswana Police Force;

    (c)    tsetse fly control officer; and

    (d)    any member of the public service of Botswana carrying a written authority from the tsetse fly control officer authorising him to act as an authorised officer for the purposes of these Regulations.

3.    Persons in sleeping sickness area to comply with directions of authorised officer

    Any person travelling in any part of Botswana which the President has in terms of section 5 of the Act declared to be a sleeping sickness area shall comply with any directions given to him by an authorised officer requiring him—

    (a)    to travel by a specified route;

    (b)    to pass through a specified de-flying chamber;

    (c)    to cause the vehicles and animals in his custody to pass through a specified de-flying chamber;

    (d)    to cause the vehicles and animals in his custody to pass through a specified cattle race;

    (e)    to pass through a specified temporary picket; or

    (f)    to cause the vehicles and animals in his custody to pass through a specified temporary picket.

4.    Penalty

    Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of regulation 3 shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding P 50 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month, or to both.
